Academic Information / Policies

Policies for SAUonline Courses

Students are expected to guard the academic integrity of their work by not sharing their username or password information with other persons. It is further understood that except for collaborative assignments given by a faculty member and appropriately attributed research, all of the work submitted by a student is entirely their own. Violation of either of these standards will result in the student receiving a failing grade and being removed from the course without reimbursement.

Grievance Procedure

Students seeking redress for grievances related to online classes are encouraged to contact the faculty member for their class first. Should this first step not be satisfactory, students are to contact the Asst. Professor for Online Learning (randym@arbor.edu) no later than 30 days after the completion of the class. Should the matter still not be satisfactorily addressed, the student should submit the grievance in writing for review by a 3-member grievance panel. The written grievance must be submitted within 90 days of the completion of the class.

Withdrawing From An Individual Class

Withdrawing from a course with 100% tuition reimbursement is available through the 5th day after the start of the session.  If you choose to drop an online course, you must drop the course through the website or by contacting Amanda Leja aleja@arbor.edu (undergraduate courses) and Terry McClintic terrym@arbor.edu (graduate courses). To contact the SAUonline Student Advocate, call 877-728-6900 or by email, bminier@arbor.edu. Students who do not initiate the drop process and are dropped administratively due to non-activity will be assessed a $100.00 fee.  Notifying your online instructor of your intention to drop does not qualify as an official drop request.

After the 5th day of the session, students have until midpoint in the course to drop for a withdrawal. Withdrawal results in a “W” on your academic record and results in a prorated refund on tuition. Dropping a course after the withdrawal period deadline will result in a “U” on your academic record and no tuition refund. Withdrawal deadlines will vary based on the number of credit hours in the course. Students who do not participate in a course will be dropped on the 8th day of the session. A student who attends* an online course but submits no coursework, will be withdrawn from the course upon the discretion of an SAUonline Administrator. The tuition refund will be based on the date of the withdrawal.

* Attendance in an online course is based upon electronic records of student presence in an online course. A student who logs into the course but does not submit coursework is attending the class.
